INTERLACE ZINE PROJECT EVENT
The ‘Interlace Project’ was a zine created in the form of a live event. We asked for 15 second videos on the theme of ‘Interlace’, of which we received 105. Using various methods of projection we then relayed, manipulated, overlapped and ultimately projected the zine. The submissions were constantly overlapping and changing, while also being interspersed with live cctv footage of people interacting with the various elements. This meant the zine became a living entity that evolved as the evening progressed. The zine existed only for that evening and the same results cannot be reproduced.
Through the input of Sam Meech we were able to projection map individual tiles within Manchester’s Vault space, allowing for each individual tile to react differently.
For the event we also collaborated with Matt Lee. His coding allowed for instant critique of the zine to be offered through the medium of Twitter. Related tweets were taken from the internet, instantly projected into, and became part of the zine.
We wanted to initiate spontaneous and serendipitous collaborations, altering the context of the work through the editing process and the use of the atmospheric projection space while also challenging the preconceptions of 'what is a zine?'

INTERLACE ZINE PROJECT
We want Northwest based creatives to contribute to our latest project.
We would like you to submit film clips of up to 15 seconds in length on the theme of 'Interlace'. These clips will then be processed into the 'Interlace Zine'. You may submit as many of these clips as you like, they can also be a series of clips.
The zine will be in the form of a live event in which we will use various methods of video projection to relay, manipulate, overlap and ultimately project the live zine. We will initiate spontaneous and serendipitous collaborations, altering the context of the work through the editing process and the use of the atmospheric projection space while also challenging the preconceptions of 'what is a zine?'
As an alternative to submitting a video piece we will also accept single image submissions that will be processed into a piece for the video zine. These should be submitted as jpegs of a decent size (no 50kb files please!).
In addition to this there will be interactive elements at the event that will allow for live contributions to the zine. The event will take place at Vault during the first week of October.
We would like all videos to be uploaded to our Vimeo channel, right HERE.
To submit a video to the channel simply email us to a link of it uploaded on vimeo to submit@owtcreative.com
Deadline 1st October

STEALTH-EXILE-INVENTORY FROM OWT PRESS
Stealth-Exile-Inventory is a poetry collection written by Neil Fraser Addison. In his own words:
"A micro-publishing expedition undertaken in late 2011/early 2012. An expedition culminating in an impromptu residency just outside of Juazeiro do Norte where this book found its beginning and its end at long last."
We employed a variety of techniques to translate Neil's attachment to each poem into the binding process. Japanese stab stitching with letterpressed and hand cut covers, coupled with biotop paper give the book the personal and tactile nature we were aiming for.
The limited edition discards the letterpress covers in favour of a handmade box and belly bands with an image from Neil's makeshift writing studio in Juazeiro do Norte. Each box is filled with ephemera from the trip, receipts with hastily scrawled half poems, itineraries, flyers and postcards.
The book is in an edition of 100 and the boxed edition comes in an edition of 13, each box coming with a hand written proof from Neil.

REPROCESS ZINE BUILD
As a final process in the making of 'Reprocess' we invited people to come down and create their own zine. Here are some photos from the event and a little bit of video footage too. Are you allowed to sit a book drill on a bar? Who knows, but we did. Thanks to everyone who came down to the event and made it such a success.

OWT ISSUE #13 'REPROCESS'
When we started OWT zine we agreed on a run of twelve issues. This is our thirteenth.
Commissioned by the Manchester School of Art and in collaboration with the Graphic Design team, Issue 13 : Reprocess follows a different approach to usual. We not only focused on how work can satisfy a theme, but also, how it changes meaning when juxtaposed with a different creative’s work.
Submissions from the OWT back catalogue form a background layer of pre-existing themes, ready to be manipulated and reprocessed by new work. This changes the context and makes new interpretations while initiating serendipitous collaborations. GF Smith Colourplan and six-colour Riso printing help add further variables. No two zines in the run of 150 are the same.

OWT 'REPROCESS' ZINE/EVENT CALL FOR ENTRIES

OWT zine has completed its 12 issue lifespan and we've been commissioned by Manchester School of Art to create a special edition, reflecting on our previous issues.
To compliment the existing work, we're also looking for new submissions on the theme of 'Reprocess'.
As usual work can be illustration, creative writing, graphic design, anything as long as it works for the theme of 'Reprocess'. We'll be using Risograph printing to print new submissions on top of previous work featured in OWT zine to create new, random, serendipitous collaborations. The work will be printed with different colours and on different stock, ensuring that each copy produced will be individual and separate in its own right.
The issue will have a series of mini events which you're invited to attend so you can become part of the process. We'll announce the dates for the events when we have them finalised. Page size will be A5 and submissions should be black and white. Please provide pages titled with your name and order you would like the pages to appear.
Please contact us if you cannot meet these guidelines but would like to submit. By sending in a submission you are allowing us to reproduce the piece/s for the zine. Unfortunately we can’t guarantee all work submitted can be used in the zine but we will try our best. All copyright belongs to the artist and no images from the zine are to be used without the artist’s permission. We won’t accept responsibility for the copyright of any submissions used.
Submissions to : submit@owtcreative.com
Submission deadline : 2nd June
Along with your submission please supply your full name and briefly tell us a little about yourself.

48 Hour Zine Workshop
We recently ran a 48 hour zine project with the Foundation students at Manchester School of Art. The brief was to redesign the alphabet through a filter that we assigned them. The aim of the project was to encourage them to work impulsively within strict a timeframe while introducing them to the immediacy of the zine aesthetic. The three filters were: Signage & the Olympics, Architecture and Photomontage. Here are the results.
